The RTL introduces a new transit fare «accès 65 hors pointe»

THE RTL INTRODUCES A NEW TRANSIT FARE
Longueuil, May 3rd, 2013 – The RTL Board of Directors has adopted a brand new transit fare, the « Accès 65 HORS POINTE », offered exclusively to its 65 and over customers that will be available starting August 1st next.
It is with a view to encourage this category of clientele to travel more often, to give them more freedom and to increase and facilitate their trips that the RTL has decided to again extend its services and in so doing introduce an adapted title for seniors of 65 years and older, that is a monthly pass for $26.00. This pass will enable them to make unlimited regular or paratransit trips during the following off-peak periods:
- Off-peak daily: 9:00 a.m. to 3:29 p.m.;
- Off-peak evening: 6:30 p.m. to 3:59 a.m.;
- Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays.
« Our main objective is to improve the quality of life of our users and the residents of the Longueuil agglomeration. We know that people 65 years and older are more active, are in better shape and take part in several recreational activities. This new fare is therefore an excellent way to facilitate their trips and as such give them more freedom » indicated at the outset Mrs. Caroline St-Hilaire, President of the RTL: «Furthermore, the RTL has adopted an agreement with participating cities to offer free public transit to users 65 and over and Longueuil and Boucherville have confirmed their participation » adding that details as to how to benefit from this fare will soon be disclosed.
About the RTL
The Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) is the third public transit organization in importance in Québec with a territory serving the five cities in the Longueuil agglomeration, or 282.4 km2. It serves a population of almost 406,000, and makes more than 139,000 trips each day. A survey done in 2010 showed a customer satisfaction rate of 94%.
In 2011, the RTL had a record year in traffic with 33.8 million regular service trips. Being the 4th most important employer in the Longueuil agglomeration with 1,069 employees, the RTL is a major player in the region’s economic vitality. With its mission to increase the quality of life of the citizens on its territory by meeting their always evolving transportation needs, the RTL invests a lot of efforts in assuring that its fleet of over 400 buses is reliable.
