My WEEKENDS RIDING THE RTL INITIATIVE: Residents of the agglomeration benefited from the fare-free day
Longueuil, October 6, 2014 – The My Weekends Riding the RTL initiative, organized to encourage people in the Longueuil agglomeration to use public transit for weekend activities was a great success. There was a large turnout as residents used the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) for activities throughout the free-fare day on Sunday, September 28.
“Radio advertisements, poster campaigns, Facebook contests, brochures, a fare-free day… Every effort was made to promote the improved weekend service and to encourage people to use the RTL more often to do their shopping and to get to family or leisure activities. We saw a large increase of users on some lines in the network and we are convinced that use of weekend service will improve,” stated Colette Éthier, president of the RTL Board of Directors.
Under the theme “My Weekends Riding the RTL,” the goal of the campaign was to portray public transport as a practical and fun way to get to work and weekend activities.
The Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) is a lead player in the transportation of people in the region, serving all five cities in the Longueil agglomeration.
