The RTL: partner of emergency services
Longueuil, August 22nd, 2014 – Called upon on a regular basis, the Réseau de Transports de Longueuil (RTL) is an important ally of the Service de sécurité incendie de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SSIAL).
Indeed, during fires, the RTL sends buses on sites to serve as shelters for the evacuated, protecting them from the cold and from weather conditions. Buses from the transport network can also be used as a gathering place to enable authorities and humanitarian organizations to meet with the afflicted citizens and provide them with useful information to help them deal with the situation.
The RTL can therefore group affected citizens in a safe environment and transport them to temporary accommodations if necessary. The RTL assures also the evacuation of persons with restricted mobility using its fleet of paratransit vehicles,
« The RTL’s collaboration with the fire department is an initiative within the framework of our Vision d’ensemble 2013-2022, which promotes the actions of the RTL and its partners. Being even more active in its milieu is also to respond to all sorts of situations where everyone put their shoulder to the wheel to ensure the safety and the well-being of the citizens of the agglomeration», stated Colette Éthier, President of the RTL’s Board of Directors.
