RTL DECLARED THE METROPOLITAN AREA WINNER IN THE “LARGE BUSINESSES” CATEGORY
Longueuil, October 2, 2015 – As a Silver partner of the Défi sans auto solo, which took place on September 16, the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) proudly made waves in the field of sustainable mobility by tying for first place in the Défi’s “large businesses” category for the Montréal metropolitan area.
“We are proud of the fact that RTL was recognized as an industry leader for reaffirming its commitment to sustainable transportation. During the Semaines de la mobilité, we encouraged the use of sustainable transportation methods by encouraging our employees to take part in the Défi sans auto solo, and by urging Agglomération residents to get involved in PARK(ing) Day on September 18,” declared Colette Éthier, Chairman of the RTL Board of Directors.
To encourage its employees to participate in the Défi sans auto solo, organized by Voyagez futé and MOBA, the RTL set up information booths to inform them about the advantages of commuting by bus and other sustainable methods of transportation, such as carpooling and walking or cycling. To illustrate the benefits of fewer cars on the road, the RTL extended its outdoor break area by placing a picnic table in a parking space at the Centre d’exploitation du Vieux-Longueuil.
As part of the PARK(ing) Day activity organized by the Corporation de développement communautaire de Longueuil (CDC), the RTL also set up an information booth to advertise its public transit services in Vieux-Longueuil, specifically by promoting its growing fleet of hybrid buses and its new, accessible bus lines.
