RTL is pleased it can once again use rue de l’Inspecteur to access downtown terminal

Longueuil, February 27 – The Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) applauds the decision by the Sud-Ouest borough to lift the ban on buses using rue de l’Inspecteur, between rue Notre Dame and rue William, to access the downtown terminal.

The detour had major consequences for the RTL, resulting in delays for passengers and thousands of dollars in additional operating costs. “We are pleased that the borough council has reconsidered its decision to ban buses on rue de l’Inspecteur. On behalf of all RTL passengers, I would like to thank borough mayor Benoît Dorais for his openness, as well as AMT President and CEO Nicolas Girard for his assistance in this matter,” stated Colette Éthier, Chair of the RTL’s Board of Directors.

As of this morning, some 200 RTL buses resumed use of the route covered in a 20-year agreement between Ville de Montréal and the AMT, which sets out preferential measures, including reserved lanes, for the Duke/William/Inspecteur/Mansfield/Downtown terminal corridor.

Some 800 RTL buses, 20,000 passengers, and 25 bus routes use the Champlain Bridge corridor daily to travel from the Agglomération de Longueuil to downtown Montréal. Of these, 400 buses and 15 routes use the corridor affected by the agreement between the AMT and Ville de Montréal.
