Necessary accompaniment

Necessary accompaniment (by an attendant) is granted when justified by the professional who completes the Attestation des incapacités section of the eligibility form. The professional should mention any specific disability that could justify a necessary accompaniment.

A few examples:
1. A person having an intellectual or physical disability and uncontrolled epilepsy with very frequent seizures.
This person may need to be accompanied if he/she vomits or has contractions during seizures and cannot reposition himself/herself due to physical problems.

2. A person suffering from apnea (breathing problem). Some persons suffering from apnea need assistance when their breathing stops. They must be shaken to restore breathing. Necessary accompaniment is then justified.

3. A person who cannot adjust or monitor his/her oxygen cylinder by himself/herself, e.g. when the person does not have the use or mobility of his/her hands.
