Riders
The RTL's ridership is composed of South Shore residents (93.1%) and non-residents (6.9%), the latter residing mainly in Montréal.
The average age is 34.1 years, i.e. 35.1 for women and 32.9 for men.
Women represent 56% of riders. This proportion is however very different between the under 25 group (54% of women) and the over 25 group (57.5% of women).

Taxpayers
The RTL serves a population of 402,953.
Since 1971, the territory has enjoyed an exceptional demographic growth, higher than the metropolitan average, which is attributed to the territory's fast development and increasing urbanization.
Between 2001 and 2010, the population grew by 4.5%. The most marked increases were recorded in Boucherville (9.8%), Brossard (17.4%) and St-Bruno (5.2%).
