Access to student rates

All eligible full-time students are entitled
to the current student fares, regardless of their age.

The OPUS card for students, which is personal and non-transferable, is proof of your eligibility for the student fare. If you don’t have it with you when you travel, you will have to pay the regular fare.

If you are 15 and over and a full-time student, you need to renew your OPUS card with photo by October 31 of every year in order to continue benefiting from the fare reduction on your travel tickets.
To skip the line-ups, you can apply for or renew your OPUS card with photo starting August !
Just go to
Metropolitan ticket office. Before going, make sure you have all the documents you’ll need, depending on your age.

Your OPUS card with photo is reloadable and is automatically registered to your name—a big plus if you ever lose your card.
If you meet all the criteria, make sure to get your OPUS card with photo to take advantage of the savings it offers !

You must be enrolled as a full-time student in an educational institution recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur.

How to proceed :
  • Fill out the form of the OPUS card with photo. Obtain the official seal of the educational institution on the form or bring a certificate of school attendance.
  • Go to a  Metropolitan ticket office with an ID document confirming your age (e.g. health insurance card, birth certificate or passport).

The card costs $15 and must be paid upon issuing.

The OPUS card with photo expires on October 31 :

  • An OPUS card issued between August 1st and December 31 will expire on October 31 of the following year.
  • An OPUS card issued between January 1st and July 31 will expire on October 31 of the same year.
