Regular service at Réseau de transport de Longueuil

Longueuil, June 4, 2017 – On the occasion of the general assembly held today by the drivers’ union, the RTL wishes to reassure its passengers and inform them that service will continue uninterrupted across its network.

Management also urges the union representatives to return to the bargaining table to resume talks on the issues. It reiterates that it is open to any suggestions about how the parties could arrive at a satisfactory outcome for everyone involved.

Last Thursday evening, the Board of Directors also approved the agreement in principle reached with the maintenance employees’ union, which represents 240 trade workers. The six-year agreement, which focuses on continuous improvement, will see salaries increase by 12.25% by December 19, 2021.

“With the good faith of everyone involved, I’m convinced we can reach just as satisfactory an agreement with the drivers’ union,” stated Michel Veilleux, Executive Director of the RTL.

Should the union decide to exercise its right to strike at a time that it deems appropriate, it must inform the employer in advance, in order to give the RTL enough time to warn its passengers and to maintain essential services.
