CONTACT+: NEW AUTOMATED CALL SYSTEM

RTL improves its paratransit service

Longueuil, December 12, 2018 - The RTL has adopted a new automated call system for its paratransit network called CONTACT+. Starting today, users who make a reservation will receive an automated call the evening before their trip to confirm the times. They will also receive a call the same day if changes are made to their trip.

This confirmation will be reassuring for paratransit users, who will also be able to cancel their reservation during the same call, if needed.

The trip confirmation call system is phase one of CONTACT+; phase two, to be added in the coming months, is a call announcing the vehicle’s imminent arrival. This important information reminding users that there’s a vehicle on the way means they won’t be kept waiting. The system is being rolled out in two phases to ensure a smooth transition for users.

“Users are very much looking forward to this system, which will benefit not only them, but the entire organization. The imminent arrival call, the reminder call the evening before, and the trip cancellation option are all things that will help the RTL to provide better service by improving the way it manages trips,” stated Pierre Brodeur, Chairman of the RTL Board of Directors.

“The confirmation call the evening before will remind users of their important appointments or trips. And, starting next year, the imminent arrival call will allow users to leave their home in enough time to wait for the vehicle, sparing them from long waits during bad weather,” added Nancy Decelles, member of the RTL Board of Directors representing paratransit users.

The Réseau de transport de Longueuil’s (RTL) paratransit service makes approximately 410,000 trips per year, 7 days a week.

The RTL wishes to thank its partners on this project, Soft Council and GIRO. For more information about CONTACT+, visit our website at www.rtl-Longueuil.qc.ca/contactplus.
