RTL AND OFFICE EMPLOYEES’ UNION APPROVE GLOBAL SETTLEMENT PROPOSAL

Longueuil, May 23, 2018 – At an extraordinary meeting held today, the Board of Directors of the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) approved the global settlement proposal recommended by the mediator, and mandated RTL’s management to draft and prepare the collective agreement to be signed by both parties during the coming weeks. This decision comes after the approval of this settlement proposal by the members of the office employees’ union (CUPE Local 3332) during a general meeting held on May 12.

The parties thus accept the terms of a five-year collective agreement that provides for salary increases equivalent to 10.75% by December 31, 2020.

With this new collective agreement, the RTL’s office employees will benefit from increased flexibility in their work schedules, as well as other measures to promote work-life balance, thus meeting two of the concerns central to the negotiations.

The parties also agreed to specific terms governing the staffing of positions that will be created as part of subsidized projects.

“The RTL congratulates the parties for accepting this settlement proposal, which respects the financial framework approved by the Board of Directors. We would like to thank the teams for the time and effort invested since the start of the negotiations, and for their ongoing commitment to the mediation process,” declared Pierre Brodeur, Chairman of the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) Board of Directors.
