SNEAK PREVIEW OF RTL’S 100% ELECTRIC BUSES

Longueuil, November 27, 2018 - The Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) was delighted to get a preview of the five electric buses that will soon be delivered to its garage in Longueuil. A demo model of BYD Canada Company Limited’s 100% electric midibus stopped by our operating centres on November 26 and 27.

These clean and silent vehicles will feature seating for 20 passengers. The RTL will conduct a needs analysis within the Agglomération to decide where the five electric buses will make their debut after arriving at the garages in spring 2019.

“This pilot project involving small electric buses is a major step in the development of an electrification plan for our entire network. In addition to strengthening our commitment to sustainable development, it will also allow us to diversify our service offer,” stated Pierre Brodeur, Chairman of the RTL Board of Directors.

The purchase of these buses is made possible by an investment from the federal and provincial governments as part of the Public Transit Infrastructure Fund. The project is being funded 50% by the federal government, 40% by the Québec government, and 10% by the Réseau de transport de Longueuil.
