RTL COMPAGNON: IMPROVING ACCESSIBILITY

Longueuil, June 14, 2019 - The Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL), in collaboration with Mass Factory and Catalonia Trade & Investment, is launching an accessibility and support pilot project for users with various cognitive limitations.

RTL Compagnon is an app designed to help users who require assistance using the regular public transit system. A computer program lets the RTL’s Customer Service department track these users and alerts our agents to any irregularities that occur during their trips. For example, if a user strays from their walking route or gets on the wrong bus, we will be able to contact them immediately; users also have instant access to our agents.

“This service will allow a portion of paratransit users to get around more freely on our regular network, at the same time encouraging them to become more independent. They will have access to our fully accessible buses and the nine accessible lines spread throughout our network,” stated Pierre Brodeur, Chairman of the RTL Board of Directors.

RTL Compagnon will be the subject of a 6-to-12-month pilot project, after which it could become part of our regular service. Accessibility is a priority for the RTL. Nine of our lines are currently fully accessible, with another seven to be added this year.

This pilot project is made possible by the support of Catalonia Trade & Investment and by the innovative solution developed by Mass Factory.
