RTL TO HOLD ROAD SAFETY ACTIVITY

Longueuil, October 3, 2019 – With road safety being one of its priorities, once again this year the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) will hold an awareness-raising activity open to public transit users, pedestrians, cyclists and motorists, on October 10, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., on the esplanade at Place Charles-Le Moyne.

The RTL team will be on site to educate participants about the blind spots around buses—areas where the risk of an accident is higher. Participants will be able to board an RTL vehicle to get a better sense of the safety issues involved in driving a bus.

“Our goal is to show that bus drivers can’t always see other people on the road because of their blind spots. We want to educate the public about the importance of being clearly visible when they’re on the road,” explained Pierre Brodeur, Chairman of the RTL Board of Directors. “This activity is just another aspect of the RTL’s daily awareness-raising efforts to remind people of the right way to behave around buses.”

More than 40 positions to fill

The RTL’s staffing department will also be present during the activity to promote opportunities and look for skilled labour.
