CLOSE TO 6,400 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS NOW RIDING WITH RTL

Longueuil, September 8, 2020 - Despite the decrease in ridership seen since the start of the pandemic, the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) has gained many new users in the past few days. Under an agreement with the Des Patriotes school service centre and renewed agreements with the Marie-Victorin and Riverside school service centres, the RTL will transport nearly 2,000 more students in 2020-2021, for a total of close to 6,400.

“That’s almost 47% more than at the start of the 2019-2020 school year. We’re happy to welcome these new users, who will have access to our services between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., Monday to Friday,” stated Jonathan Tabarah, Chairman of the RTL Board of Directors. “Under an arrangement with the school service centres, for a small extra fee, the students will also be able to ride the buses outside of these hours, hopefully encouraging them to make public transit part of their daily routine. We would like to thank our partners, the students, and their parents for their trust in us. We’re aware that it takes time to adjust to any new change, so we look forward to receiving feedback from our new users.

” The RTL has added eleven new school lines to its network for the 2020-2021 school year. The agreements with the school boards were originally signed in 2014.
