RTL REASSURES USERS IT’S SAFE TO RESUME PUBLIC TRANSIT USE

Longueuil, September 23, 2020 – With the new school year in full swing and employees heading back to the office after the summer, the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) is urging users to start using its buses, shared taxi service, and paratransit minibuses and taxis again, reminding them that it’s safe to do so.

“Since the start of the pandemic, our teams have worked non-stop to adapt to the new normal and keep our vehicles and facilities safe for users and employees. Cleanings have been stepped up, hand sanitizer dispensers have been installed at the Longueuil terminal, and our users are wearing masks as required,” said Jonathan Tabarah, Chairman of the RTL Board of Directors. “As Montréal’s public health director pointed out yesterday, there have been no cases of infection in the public transit system for months now. We’ll be happy to have you back and get you where you’re going.”

These measures are combined with the thousands of reusable face coverings given out to our users. After our terminals, park-and-ride lots, and busiest stops on our network, our teams were recently stationed at the DIX30 and Place Longueuil and will visit the Mail Champlain and Promenades Saint-Bruno next. The next date that face coverings will be given out to users is Saturday, September 26, at Mail Champlain, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

“Feel free to drop by and meet some of our team members, who will fill you in on the new public transit habits for keeping everyone safe,” added Jonathan Tabarah.


Face coverings are also available at the metropolitan ticket counter at the Longueuil terminal and at various points of sale within the Agglomération. Over the next few weeks, various communication tools will be rolled out on different platforms to reassure public transit users.
