RTL REPORTS VERY FEW CASES OF COVID-19

Longueuil, August 25, 2020 – The Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) wishes to reassure its users of the very low number of cases of COVID-19 among its employees, with only 6 out of 1,200 employees having contracted the virus since the start of the pandemic. No cases have been reported since July 31.

“With the new school year set to start and many users gradually returning to work, we see this as proof that our preventive measures are working to keep our employees and users safe, both on our buses and in our buildings,” said Jonathan Tabarah, Chairman of the RTL Board of Directors. “Our disinfection measures, our employees wearing masks on public transit and in places where distancing can’t be respected, our drivers being isolated behind physical barriers, and our mask-wearing awareness campaigns for users—it’s all paid off.”

The employees in question have all recovered, and there was no contamination in the workplace.

The RTL, together with the other transit corporations in the metropolitan area, distributed face coverings to users at various locations and on several occasions in the past few months. Ultimately, close to 1.5 million masks will have been given out by the metropolitan transit corporations.
