50 STOPS, 3,700 PEOPLE VACCINATED: VACCIBUS STILL GOING

Longueuil, September 21, 2021 – The Vaccibus will continue to operate until October 15. The bus—a partnership between the CISSS de la Montérégie-Centre and the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL)—has been circulating throughout the territory since July 13. Since its launch, the Vaccibus has made nearly 50 stops in parks and at schools, events, businesses, and stores in the Montérégie region. More than 3,700 people climbed aboard the Vaccibus to get their first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

“The RTL got down to work, and the results have been impressive. We’re happy to play our part in opening up access to the vaccine for citizens in the Montérégie region. We’re pleased to see that the Vaccibus is helping the Centre intégré de la santé et des services sociaux de la Montérégie-Centre in the fight against COVID-19 in our region,” said Jonathan Tabarah, Chairman of the RTL Board of Directors.

“There’s no question that the Vaccibus is a big help to our teams in their efforts to vaccinate as many people as possible to try to stop this pandemic in its tracks. A vaccine clinic on wheels lets us travel to people wherever they are, and the walk-in format makes it easy for everyone to use. I want to thank the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) for helping make this initiative a success, and hats off to the company for not hesitating to extend the Vaccibus campaign. Between now and October 15, our plan is to visit mostly local businesses,” said Richard Deschamps, President-CEO of CISSS de la Montérégie-Centre.

The Vaccibus will operate five days a week, from Tuesday to Saturday, until October 15. This bus, on loan from the RTL, has been fully transformed into a clinic, with room for staff from the CISSS de la Montérégie-Centre to triage patients, and prepare and administer vaccines. It’s also accessible to individuals with reduced mobility.

You can follow the Vaccibus on the CISSS de la Montérégie-Centre Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/cisssmc, and on the RTL Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/RTLlongueuil/.

The RTL and the CISSS de la Montérégie-Centre wish to thank all citizens and healthcare teams who made the Vaccibus a success.
