RTL to recycle single-use masks
Longueuil, March 12, 2021 – The Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) is proud to announce that it has begun collecting the single-use masks worn by its employees.
RTL employees can now drop their used masks in the appropriate boxes in our various buildings and garages. The masks will be processed and turned into convertible materials by a specialized Québec firm and later used to manufacture new products. This initiative will prevent the 10,000 procedure masks used each week by our employees from ending up in the trash.
“This project is an extension of our efforts to reduce our environmental footprint. This employee driven solution will have a measurable impact. And it comes on the heels of several other initiatives, such as the electrification of our bus fleet, the installation of charging stations for our employees, and the use of environmentally friendly soap to clean our buses, among others,” added Jonathan Tabarah, Chairman of the RTL Board of Directors.
