RTL WINS COMMUNICATION AND PUBLIC RELATIONS AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Longueuil, May 20, 2021 – On Wednesday, May 19, during a virtual presentation, the Société québécoise des professionnels en relations publiques (SQPRP) awarded the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) the silver medal in the category “COVID-19 strategic communication campaign.”

Activities disrupted by the pandemic
Like everyone else, the RTL was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. In addition to introducing health measures for employees and the public, the RTL had to adjust to its users’ new travel habits and routines. It’s important to remember that the first case of COVID 19 identified in Québec turned out to have ridden on an RTL bus—a fact that spurred the organization stay ahead of the curve when it comes to fighting the pandemic.

“Safety onboard our vehicles is a priority for our users and for the RTL. Our teams had to quickly adapt our methods and services early on in the pandemic to make sure our users were safe. Our employees came up with very creative and original communications to let our users know about the measures in place,” said Jonathan Tabarah, Chairman of the RTL Board of Directors. It should be noted that no outbreaks have been reported on the RTL bus network or among its employees.

A makeover for communications with employees and users

The RTL also stepped up its communication efforts during the pandemic. As a result, new communication tools were developed, including an online platform for employees and innovative advertising campaigns for users, all of which have allowed the RTL to keep the lines of communication open with its target audiences.

“The past few months have called for flexibility, adaptation, and reinvention at all levels of the RTL, in particular, our communications with our users and our employees, whom I would like to thank for continuing to trust in us during the pandemic,” said Tabarah.
