VIRTUAL CONSULTATIONS ON THE VISION FOR THE NEW BUS NETWORK IN THE AGGLOMÉRATION DE LONGUEUIL

Longueuil, August 30, 2021 – The Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) invites residents of the Agglomération de Longueuil to voice their opinion on the vision for the new bus system. Two virtual public consultation sessions will be held on September 8 and 9. The online consultations via Web platform will also continue until September 30.

As part of the review of the bus network, the RTL held nine public consultation sessions and gathered public feedback through an online survey to identify user needs and priorities. Nearly 1,700 people expressed their opinions during this phase.

The information obtained from this public consultation enabled the RTL to develop a new network by and for the citizens. This proposal is based on four priority intervention areas, which give rise to solutions proposed by users:

- a successful integration with the REM;
- greater flexibility in terms of travel times;
- improved service for business sectors and new developments within the Agglomération;
- smoother links between the cities in the Agglomération (Boucherville, Brossard, Longueuil, Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, and Saint-Lambert).

“A true transition from talk to action, these consultations aimed to make sure the proposed network meets the needs and priorities of the RTL’s users. This is a tremendous opportunity for citizens to be heard and to suggest improvements,” said Jonathan Tabarah, Chairman of the RTL Board of Directors.

Following this consultation phase, the RTL will fine-tune the scenarios presented, after which it will unveil the new network to the citizens of the Agglomération. The improvements will be implemented gradually with the goal of providing efficient, flexible service, bearing in mind that the priority for 2022 will be to ensure the successful integration of the REM on the South Shore.
