The multimodal Chrono application offers a practical high-tech solution to obtain information about routes and schedules for all transit agencies in the Greater Montréal area.

Follow the RTL’s buses in real time  on all our lines! Real-time information on the arrival times at upcoming stops is now available on most of our lines.

Simply open the app on your tablet or smart phone to locate our buses on the map. Based on where the bus is positioned on the map, its arrival time at upcoming stops is calculated in real time.

Receive updates to help you plan your trips better
A feature in Chrono now lets app users receive customized messages informing them of disruptions on their daily route.

Simply select a bus line, a direction and a bus stop, and click the notification button to receive messages about the status of your route.  Stay informed so you can plan your trips better!

Check the bus occupancy rate

A Chrono feature allows you to check the number of passengers on your bus during the week. Based on estimated ridership, it predicts the number of seats available. Data can be accessed for each stop on most RTL lines.
Almost empty
A few seats left
Standing room only
Almost full

On the app, you’ll find the occupancy rate under the Schedules section, once you’ve selected the line and clicked on a stop. The information will also be stored in your favourites. Click on the estimated ridership icon for the legend.
OPUS and Solo card reader

You can also read your OPUS and Solo cards to find out how many tickets you have left and the terms of use.
First, you need to make sure your phone is NFC-enabled.
With Android phones, you can activate the NFC chip by going to the Settings, entering NFC in the search bar, and tapping on the NFC switch to activate it.
For iPhones, the function is enabled by default.

Then simply open the app and select the OPUS card reader from the main menu. Place the OPUS card against the top part of the back of your mobile phone (depending on the model, the reader zone can be on the back or front of the phone). The phone will vibrate once the connection is established. A page will open showing the fares stored on the card.

Find a point of sale (Android only)

Need to buy a transit pass? With the Points of Sale feature, you can quickly find the closest place to buy a transit pass.
On the app, this is done either:
  • through the main menu, at the top left,
  • when using the OPUS card reader,
  • when planning a trip.
Then, simply:
  • enter an address,
  • locate your position,
  • choose a point of sale on the map.

This feature is currently only available on Android phones.
